The camera has landed. And it's delicious. (With a 55-200mm VR zoom lens on the way. I'm sure that'll be tasty, too.)
I'd like to thank the folks who follow Adipositivity, Fatospherers, Twitterers, Facebookers (for doing whatever it is you Facebookers do) and everyone who helped spread the word, particularly head cheerleader / chief can-banger Aris for hitting up her expansive address book. But I especially wanna thank the peeps from all over the world who donated, mostly five and ten bucks at a time. I promise never to use the camera for evil. My hope is to continue with upgrades, next being some accessories, fancy-ass new editing software, and a biggerbetterfastermore monitor.
This crowdfunding idea seemed doomed from the start. Amazon Payments, the operation who handles the money for Kickstarter, told me my project was too sexually explicit for them to approve. This, without seeing a single photograph. There were technical problems nearly every day, got a couple WTF calls from Paypal, then things slowed to a trickle over that pesky holiday weekend. But the biggest problem was me. I resisted this for too long. It's creepy to ask for money, right? But once I saw the outpouring of generosity, and read the heartwarming (for lack of a less corny word) messages, I knew I'd made the right decision. And we did it from soup to nuts in just six days.
